Airport Dimensions response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

With the guidance provided by local officials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Dr. Simon Worrell, Global Medical Director of our parent company, Collinson, we have developed a three-phased plan to reopen our network shared-use lounges.

Phase 1: Readiness

Overseeing The Club and Club Aspire reopening is Dr. Simon Worrell, who leads Collinson’s Medical Assistance division. Dr. Worrell is a world-renowned expert on pandemic support with extensive experience dealing with international health challenges faced by global travelers, having previously worked to keep travelers safe during outbreaks of Ebola and Zika. For this phase, Airport Dimensions’ Client Management team and Dr. Worrell have presented a full reopen plan to airport partners inviting their feedback and comments.

Dr. Worrell states, “As airports begin to welcome back more travelers, Airport Dimensions has anticipated the changing needs of passengers and has implemented measures to create a lounge space where visitors can trust that they are in a safe environment. This includes the addition of safety measures such as increased hygiene practices, enforcing social distancing, implementing temperature checks, among other measures. In addition to focusing on the health and wellbeing of visitors, Airport Dimensions has explored measures to ensure that The Club remains a comfortable space where travelers can relax and replenish ahead of their flight.”

Phase 2: Re-Open

Prior to reopening, all Club Zones and kitchen areas will receive a professional deep clean and complete sanitization. Kitchen areas will then continue to be deep cleaned twice daily using standard protocols and specific Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommended disinfectant. Standard lounge open- and after-hours cleaning protocols will be enhanced to include:

  • Dedicated staff members to clean all guest and food service areas with EPA approved disinfectant every 30 minutes during operating hours
  • Installation of air purification units – HEPA filtration systems – to filter out bacteria, viruses including COIVD-19 and other particulates
  • Seat / table area cleaning in bar and dining room after each use
  • A dedicated attendant will assist guests in the Replenish Zone with their food selections

Prior to each shift, staff members will undergo temperature measurement using non-contact infrared thermometers. Additionally, all staff will be required to wear hand-protection, a face mask, and participate in increased hand-washing every 30 minutes.

Day passes will be available for purchase online at the lounge’s concierge desk. Upon entrance at a Club location, visitors will be greeted by a staff member behind a plexiglass protection shield. Occupancy guidelines will also be aligned with each airport and local government requirements. An increase of health and safety signage will be visible to guests and hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the lounge, including at the entrance, outside bathrooms, and near food and self-service beverage areas.

Social distancing will be encouraged throughout the lounge, using floor decals at the entrance and high-density areas as a helpful reminder for guests. Seating throughout lounge will also be marked with seat decals.

To ensure the health and safety of The Club guests and staff, some services and amenities will be limited upon reopening:

  • Hours of operation will align with airport flight departures and visitor volume
  • Shower facilities will be temporarily unavailable to guests
  • Kids Zones at The Club MCO and The Club JAX will be temporarily closed

During this time, Airport Dimensions is also partnering with Grab,  the airport e-commerce platform and largest marketplace for contactless order and pay at airport restaurants, to provide travelers the ability to order food from airport concessions for pick-up. Travelers can browse through an expanded choice of concession items using links displayed on tent cards that will be placed throughout The Club lounges.

Phase 3: Re-Calibrate

Airport Dimensions will enter into a 3-6 month re-calibration period following the reopening of The Club lounges. During this time, Airport Dimensions will evaluate operations at The Club and assess opportunities to safely increase amenities and services.

In the case of a suspected or confirmed positive COVID-19 case by a staff member or guest, Airport Dimensions has developed operating procedures to be followed by local unit leaders using CDC health and safety guidance for businesses and workplaces.

Airport Dimensions is actively evaluating the reopening of our lounge network, contingent upon delivery of health and safety supplies. TSA passenger data and published airline load factor information will also be used as criteria for reopening locations.
